NORFOLK - Dr. William Cooke Andrews, 84, passed away unexpectedly Dec. 31, 2008, in a local hospital. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Jean Cooke Andrews and Dr. Charles James Andrews. Dr. Andrews was a physician with a specialty in obstetrics and gynecology serving in private practice from 1953 to 1995. He was the former chief of obstetrics and gynecology with Norfolk General Hospital, former director of obstetrics and gynecology and was on the attending staff of Medical Center Hospital from 1972 to the present. He was a graduate of Princeton University and obtained his medical education from John Hopkins University School of Medicine. By day, William Andrews works as a meter reader for a subcontractor of Columbia Gas. Katie Manukyan teaches Russian and Russian literature at the University of Pittsburgh.
VIRGINIA BEACH - William J. Andrews entered eternal life on May 4, 2007. He was born in Philadelphia to the late Joseph and Kathryn Andrews. William was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marion; grandson, Frankie; and sister, Agnes. Left to cherish his memory are daughter, Marion Marsh-Harris and husband Morris; daughter, Debbie McCloskey and husband Harry; and daughter, Donna Lewis and fiance Douglas Mellon. Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Billy Marsh, Dylan Harris, Riley Harris, Kelly Lewis, Bill Lewis and Harry McCloskey.
