AUBURNDALE, Florida -- Senior right-hander Ryan Yates (Norway, Maine/Oxford Hills) pitched 7.2 innings giving up one run on six hits while striking out five to earn the win and lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies baseball team over the No. 21 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawks, 7-1, at Lake Myrtle Park Wednesday afternoon. The win was the fourth straight for the Huskies as they improve to 10-3 overall. The loss snaps a four-game winning streak for the Warhawks, ranked 21st in this week's ABCA poll, as they drop to 7-3 overall.

SALEM, Va. - Levell Coppage scored on a 1-yard run and Wisconsin- Whitewater shut down Mount Union until the closing minutes to win its third consecutive Division III national championship, 13-10 on Friday night in the seventh consecutive title game meeting between the schools. The victory was the 45th in a row for the Warhawks (15-0), who haven't lost since Mount Union beat them in the 2008 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. The Purple Raiders finished 14-1.

FAYETTEVILLE - With the opening of TimberTrek Aerial Adventure Park at Adventures on the Gorge, the number of the resort's guests riding cables and zipping through the forest soon might eclipse the number riding rafts and shooting the rapids of the New and Gauley rivers. Thanks to industry-leading river park design firm Recreation Engineering and Planning (REP), Charles City is celebrating the grand opening of Iowa's first-ever whitewater park this weekend. The $1 million facility is located on the Cedar River behind City Hall at 105 Milwaukee Mall in the heart of Charles City.
