Today they operate in areas where hostilities continue, and they face many of the same dangers and challenges as soldiers. Civilian deployment will grow as more military-to-civilian job conversions occur, especially in support functions such as personnel, safety, security, resource management, and logistics. Sometimes civilian employees are motivated by financial considerations. A number of allowances can apply, such as hardship differential and danger pay, and other considerations include overtime, salary caps and taxes. • Joe Made Right Move in Going with Andy

Of course the rainout made him wonder if CC Sabathia was a safer October bet than a 37-year-old who has seen his better ALCS days. • Wild Card: Colin Kaepernick

If you're looking for a wild-card pick for the Buffalo Bills at No. 34, consider Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick. I did not include him in our Billboard poll for the Bills' second-round pick because our expectation is most teams are going to have him rated around No. 60 or in the mid-60s on their draft boards. But if the Bills want to add a quarterback in the draft, he's worthy of consideration. Forget about TCU's Andy Dalton. The Bills already have a smarter version of him in Ryan Fitzpatrick. (We're not knocking Dalton's smarts; he's very intelligent, but there might not be anybody in Fitz's class.) There's no way Buffalo takes Arkansas' Ryan Mallett. Bills coach Chan Gailey likes his QB to have some mobility. Plus, there are the character questions with Mallett.

• Commentary: No Detail Is Too Small for Landlords Leasing to Tech Companies

Leasing space for a technology company is a very different experience than finding space for a more mainstream user, such as a law firm or accounting group. There are many more variables to consider, from the perspective of both the tenant and the landlord. The company's history, particularly its financial history, will be the first areas of consideration in the transaction. Traditionally, landlords want to know how long a prospective tenant has been in business.
