The Falcon School District 49 board voted Thursday to eliminate existing bus services for next fall, but it asked the transportation department to come up with some ideas on how to get kids to class.
The vote was taken just before the meeting was adjourned because too many people had crowded into the small board room in a portable building that houses the district's administration offices. It was clear that the room's 123 maximum capacity had been exceeded, said Jeff Petersma, battalion chief for the Falcon Fire Department.

According to Joey Thomas, a company spokesman, those being axed work in back-office administration in stores and district offices. He noted that the cuts translate to an average elimination of two positions per store.
