JURISDICTION/VENUE: A defendant charged with two misdemeanors committed within Hamilton County was subject to the Hamilton County Municipal Courts subject-matter jurisdiction, and the court acquired personal jurisdiction over the defendant when she initially entered her pleas of not guilty. Objections based on defects in the institution of a prosecution must be raised prior to trial; in the absence of a pretrial objection, such issues are waived. ASSAULT COUNSEL JURISDICTION/VENUE: The Hamilton County Municipal Court had both subject-matter jurisdiction and personal jurisdiction over the defendant even though he alleged that a reviewing official had never assessed the misdemeanor complaints filed against him by a private citizen as required by R.C. 2935.09. The Hamilton County Municipal Court has subject-matter jurisdiction over misdemeanors committed within its jurisdiction, and the filing of the misdemeanor complaints, which were valid on their face, invoked the courts jurisdiction. The court acquired personal jurisdiction over the defendant when he entered his not-guilty pleas, and because he never raised the issue of personal jurisdiction in the trial court, he waived it. Because the defendant f...
