  • To fully understand Biko's commitment as a freedom fighter and a protagonist of the anti-apartheid system, it is vital to look at his Xhosa roots in terms of its role and the life experiences of his mission. Historical and archaeological evidence suggested that the Xhosa people had inhabited the Eastern Cape region for centuries.
