• Roberts Dairy Makes a Change in Iowa City

The Roberts Dairy plant in Iowa City will change from a production to a distribution facility effective Monday, July 18, and the Prairie Farms Dairy plant in Dubuque will service the eastern Iowa area, the company announced Friday. Prairie Farms is based in Carlinville, Ill., and Roberts Dairy is one of the company's subsidiaries, according to the Prairie Farms website.

For the past four years, the Center for Food Safety (CFS), a Washington DC-based consumer protection group, and others have litigated against Monsanto and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regarding the company's Roundup Ready alfalfa. The coalition has focused their fight against Monsanto's GE alfalfa, based on concerns that the plants could negatively impact biodiversity as well as other non-GE food crops. BUXTON -- , of Buxton, died at Maine Medical Center on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, as a result of a stroke he suffered in his sleep Tuesday morning. He was born in Coley's Point, Bay Roberts, Newfoundland, on Oct. 12, 1921, the son of John Bradbury and Elizabeth Churchill Bradbury. Wilson grew up in Bay Roberts spending much of his early years working for his grandfather Tilley as a linesman for Western Union Telegraph Company. In his early 20s, he came to the Augusta State Mental Hospital to study dairy farming under an agricultural work- study grant from the Newfoundland Government.
