Anthony and Carmela Cartone Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Cartone of Williamsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of marriage vows in St. John Neumann Chapel, Town of Tonawanda, followed by a luncheon hosted by their children in Falletta's Restaurant, Clarence. Mr. Cartone and Carmela Lazzaro were married April 29, 1961, in St. Margaret Catholic Church, Buffalo. He is a retired quality control inspector for Westinghouse Electric and Bell Aerospace Textron; she is a retired histology technician for IMMCO Diagnostics. The couple has four children, 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
People with flags, streamers and coolers risked rain to celebrate Fourth of July traditions at small parks and large parades Saturday. Brats and burgers were grilling at sunrise. By midmorning, people lined streets waiting for local parades to start. Some people even thought of marriage.
It was in 1946 when Charles "Ed" Whitaker, a 19-year-old soldier was stationed at Camp Polk (now known as Fort Polk) in central Louisiana. He went into a nearby town on leave with a friend in his unit one weekend.
Weier -- 60 Years Arthur and Sylvia Weier of Selah are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary today with a renewal of vows ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church and a family dinner. The event will be hosted by their children.
BLOOMINGTON - Keith and Meta Baker of Bloomington celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a renewal of vows Nov. 5 at Crosswinds Community Church in Bloomington. Baker and Meta Mickens were married Nov. 1, 1986, at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Sparta, Va. Their attendants were Marla Mickens and Darrell Adams.
The Rev. Canon Louis E. and Joan O. Hemmers of Redlands were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 23 at the home of their son in Yucaipa. Hosting the renewal of vows and golden wedding anniversary celebration and reception were the couple's children and their spouses.
Anthony and Nancy Markello - 55 years Dr. and Mrs. Anthony Markello of East Aurora celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with family at Roycroft Inn. The couple's son, Jeffrey Markello, Aurora Town justice, presided over their renewal of marriage vows. Mr. Markello and Nancy Hammond were married Oct. 29, 1955, in First Congregational Church, North Collins. He continues to work part time as an associate medical director for Independent Health and serves on the boards of several professional organizations; she is a retired nurse. The couple has three children, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
