My husband and I are retired and recently celebrated our 30th with a "renewal of vows" ceremony. It doesn't have to break the bank.

  • Anthony and Carmela Cartone Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Cartone of Williamsville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of marriage vows in St. John Neumann Chapel, Town of Tonawanda, followed by a luncheon hosted by their children in Falletta's Restaurant, Clarence. Mr. Cartone and Carmela Lazzaro were married April 29, 1961, in St. Margaret Catholic Church, Buffalo. He is a retired quality control inspector for Westinghouse Electric and Bell Aerospace Textron; she is a retired histology technician for IMMCO Diagnostics. The couple has four children, 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Mr. Markello and Nancy Hammond were married Oct. 29, 1955, in First Congregational Church, North Collins. He continues to work part time as an associate medical director for Independent Health and serves on the boards of several professional organizations; she is a retired nurse. The couple has three children, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
