This study investigated if the relative frequencies of faculty's publications in eight refereed business journals were the same for gender, professorial rank, and number of authors on a published article. Chi-Square analyses were used to test three null hypotheses, with a .05 level of confidence. Certain types of refereed business journals significantly predicted the number of co-authors and professorial rank. Implications for targeting referred business journals, business school deans seeking AACSB accreditation and business school faculty seeking tenure, promotion, or merit pay increases are discussed.

This document proposes to expand the scope of this proceeding to propose a set of technical rules for the operation of unlicensed level probing radars (LPR) in several frequency bands. LPR devices are low-power radars that measure the level (relative height) of various substances in man-made or natural containments. In open-air environments, LPR devices may be used to measure levels of materials such as coal piles or water basin levels. An LPR device also may be installed inside an enclosure, e.g., a tank made of materials such as steel or fiberglass and commonly referred to as a tank level probing radar (TLPR) that could be filled with liquids or granulates. During the pendency of the rulemaking proceeding, but outside this proceeding, the Commission received waiver requests and other ...

During 1981–2004, long-run earnings inequality among men increased by about the same magnitude as the well-documented increase in annual earnings inequality. Although the growth in annual earnings inequality was greater for women during these years, there was very little increase in their long-run earnings inequality. This article explores the conditions that produce the divergent trends in long-run earnings.

This manuscript addresses the question of who makes the better university professor. - Is it the person with experience in the field as a K-12 administrator or the one directly out of college with only in-depth knowledge of educational administratin theory? The study was performed at a southern university using graduate educational leadership and research students as participants. The survey instrument was developed utilizing a sample survey method. A coding technique was used to create categories for responses and the responses were then quantified by recording their relative frequency within each category.

A burst aorta is apparently the most pain a person can experience, worse than giving birth, passing a kidney stone, breaking a bone or slipping a vertebral disk. "The pain is 11 on a scale from 1 to 10," said Dr. John A. Elefteriades, chief cardiothoracic surgeon at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Fortunately for its unfortunate sufferers, death follows in seconds or minutes. Most don't know what happened and the public does not appreciate the relative frequency of aortic dissection, he said.

The results suggest that frequency of purchases from school vending machines was not associated with BMI, however; greater frequency of purchases was associated with a poorer diet quality. Students reporting a greater frequency of vending purchases had a greater caloric intake and poorer absolute dietary intake as compared to a lower frequency of purchases. This trend was also observed with the relative dietary intake of total fat and sucrose.

The purpose of this exploratory study was to compare coaching behaviors as they relate to the underlying cultural values of Saudi Arabian and U.S. managers. The Coaching Behaviors Inventory (Noer, 2005) was administered to 80 Saudi Arabian and 71 U.S. managers to measure the frequency with which they exhibited assessing, challenging and supporting coaching behaviors. Results indicated that, relative to their U.S. counterparts, the Saudi Arabian managers 1) demonstrated more overall homogeneity in their coaching behaviors and 2) scored significantly higher on the supporting and challenging dimensions. Implications for U.S. and Saudi coaching relationships as well as the use of effective coaching behaviors to facilitate deeper and more authentic cross-cultural communications are discussed.

We examine strategic alliances in an attempt to explain the increase in their use and the statistically significant increase in announcement day abnormal returns evident. Of the 10,141 strategic alliances we examine between 1983 and 2004, on average there is a statistically significant positive market response consistent with earlier research. Despite their increased use and positive announcement response, evidence suggests that approximately half of all strategic alliances result in negative shareholder wealth effects, perhaps portending impending alliance failure. Our research helps to differentiate those strategic alliances that are viewed favorably by the market from those that are not.

In November 2007, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) announced a change in the way it communicates its view of the economic outlook: It increased the frequency of its forecasts from two to four times per year, and it increased the length of the forecasting horizon from two to three years. The FOMC does not release the individual members' forecasts or standard measures of consensus such as the mean or median. Rather, it continues to release the forecast information as a range of forecasts, both the full range between the high and the low and a central tendency that omits the extreme values. This paper uses individual forecaster data from the Survey of Professional Forecasters (SPF) to mimic the FOMC's method for creating their central tendency. The authors show that the midpoint of...
