In first half of 2010, Voter Applications Skyrocket at State Public Assistance Offices
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than 100,000 low-income Ohio residents have applied to register to vote at state Department of Job and Family Service (ODJFS) offices in the first six months of 2010, following a federal court settlement to bring the state agency into compliance with the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 ("NVRA").

HARRISBURG, Pa., April 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Monday, April 18, is the last day to register to vote in Pennsylvania's May 17 primary election, acting Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele said today.
Primary voters will cast ballots for candidates for a variety of judicial and municipal offices, including judge of the Superior Court, judge of the Commonwealth Court and county Court of Common Pleas judges.

A federal judge granted a preliminary injunction this week requiring the Department of Social Services to register its clients to vote.
The injunction requires DSS offices across the state to comply with the National Voter Registration Act. The suit and motion for preliminary injunction were filed by several non-profit groups, spearheaded by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN.
