• Challenger Could Do Away with Register of Wills Office

Republican Michael Ginsburg says he isn't sure that the Register of Wills office that he is seeking in Tuesday's general election election is even necessary. But Ginsburg said he is sure that he's better suited to run it for the next four years than eight-term incumbent Democrat Earl Keim. Keim, whose father was a Westmoreland County judge, is the longest-tenured elected official at the courthouse.

• Ex-Register's Office Employee Is Sentenced for Theft of Funds

A former cashier for the Shelby County Register's Office pleaded guilty Friday in Criminal Court to stealing more than $8,000 by altering records. Regina Daniel, 51, of Millington was sentenced to four years' probation and was ordered to make restitution of more than $10,000 to the Register's Office and to a law firm whose fees she pocketed.
