Dave Schmidt is a purveyor of calories, a vendor of sweet victuals, a peddler of oozing confections.
Though technically he doesn't make the powdered-sugar-dusted wares, as the head honcho of the Wisconsin State Fair Cream Puff Parlor you could call him the fair's Puff Daddy it's up to Schmidt to make sure cream puffs roll seamlessly off the assembly line and into the mouths of hundreds of thousands of fairgoers.

Before she became President John F. Kennedy's favorite blond birthday singer, Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jeane Mortenson. Rapper Diddy was previously P. Diddy, Puff Daddy and before that plain old Sean Combs. By the time you finish reading this, he'll probably call himself "Did.

A welcome addition to the catalog of globalization studies within the Caribbean diaspora, in this collection Green and Scher, citing the advanced nature of the carnival's unique hybridity, offer several nuanced readings of globalization placing special emphasis on carnival as a historical product. Philip suggests that following Puff Daddy's (now P. Diddy) 1997 performance many organizers questioned the Caribbeaness of Caribana, while others overtly denounced the celebration as a "watered-down North American street festival" (p. 103).\n "Creativity and Politics in the Steelband Music of Ray Holman, 1957-1972," by Shannon Dudley, tracks the history of the steel band movement in Trinidad through a case study of pioneering steel band arranger, composer, and performer Ray Holman.

This fact was driven home for the world to see by Damon Dash on the silver screen in the film "Back Stage." Hie film is a documentary of the highly successali 50-plus city Hard Knock life tour. At some point on the tour, a Def Jam executive presented personalized tour jackets, emblazed with the Def Jam logo on the back. Damon Dash was incensed and barked quite loudly and incessantly that the "gifts" gave the impression that it was a Def Jam production, negating the groundwork laid by the people who put the wheels of the tour in motion.
Hmm, actually the "muscle" (Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, the Dogg Pound, Nate Dogg and Lady of Rage) and the wearers of the "shiny Versace suits" (BIG, Mase, Faith, Total, Puff Daddy) ran the music industry. That kind of confidence is needed to compete in any end...

We, too, were forced to bunker down as we headed to Philadelphia last Friday for the memorial service of Joseph Flowers. Just a few short hours ahead of the storm, Harry Burney III arrived from Florida to sing "Jesus, You Are the Center of My Life." The Hon. Dennis F. Hightower, deputy secretary, United States Department of Commerce, came in from D.C. to give reflections. Roy Bostic, Jr. did a beautiful rendition of "We Shall Behold Him" in a style reminiscent of Billy Eckstein. Hon. John Braxton, past president of Ye Olde Philadelphia Club, Inc., reflected on how Joseph Flowers taught those he met that the way to measure a man was not by how much money he has or the job he holds, but by the type of human being he is. Members of the club were there to show their support, as were several...

Probably no one has undergone as many name changes as Sean Combs. At various times he has been known as "Puff Daddy," "P. Diddy," "Puffy" and "Diddy." He has taken on acting assignments as "Sean Combs." His clothing line is called "Sean John.
SPORTS IS a field where there are plenty of nicknames. Shaquille O'Neal is known as "Shaq." Everyone knows Earvin Johnson as "Magic." Tommy Hearns was so fierce in the ring that they called him "the Motor City Cobra." Julius Erring was loved as "Dr. J." Ditto for Michael Jordan as "Air Jordan" and Dwayne Johnson as "the Rock." They called Dennis Rodman "the Worm." Remember Mark "the Bird" Fidrych? Wilt "the Stilt" Chamberlain is a legend. And before his life took a drastic and tragic turn for the worst, O.J. Simpson was loved as "the Juice."
