Former Woodland Fire Chief Anthony Brentin is seeking a permanent home on the citys council this fall. But a couple who rented to Brentin earlier this year, and then sued him for non-payment, says Brentins inability to manage his personal finances is proof he should not be entrusted with a citys checkbook. Brentin owes Shana and Brandan Stroh more than $4,600, according to a Cowlitz County Superior Court judges ruling in July. Brentin has not paid the couple any money since then, but promises he will as soon as he is financially able.

Two days after an Oregon couple publicly blasted him for not following a judges order to reimburse them unpaid rent, Woodland City Council candidate Anthony Brentin wrote them a check for more than $4,800, erasing the debt. Brentins check came three months after a Cowlitz County Superior Court judge ordered him to pay Brandan and Shana Stroh for rent, utilities and other unpaid costs associated with the two months Brentin and his wife lived in their home. Judge Gary Bashor also compelled Brentin to pay more than $1,400 in attorneys fees.
