Remarks Highlight National Transportation Policy Project's Framework for Transportation Investment WASHINGTON, March 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- JayEtta Hecker, Director of Transportation Advocacy at the Bipartisan Policy Center (BPC), today testified before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee regarding "Federal, State and Local Partnerships to Accelerate Transportation Benefits." In her testimony, Hecker detailed recommendations from BPC's National Transportation Policy Project's (NTPP) recently released report, Performance Driven: A New Vision for U.S. Transportation Policy. The report, released in June, presents a vision and framework for transportation policies that are performance driven, linked to a set of clearly defined goals, and held accountable for results.
Three artists have been chosen to consult with city officials, architects and contractors on artwork in new public-works projects. Bobbe Besold of Santa Fe, Evelyn Rosenberg of Albuquerque and Susan Wink of Roswell were chosen recently from 24 applicants by members of the Arts in Public Places Committee.
When Trafford Council members appoint someone to fill a council vacancy next month, they'll have a tough time finding someone who puts in as much time and does as much work as the man being replaced. Marco Bortoluzzi, who resigned from council last week, wasn't just the chairman of the borough public works committee. For his $50 monthly council stipend, he essentially was an extra public works employee.
Niagara County is poised to borrow $5.5 million to pave several roads, reconstruct a bridge and buy equipment for the Highway Department. The bond issue was approved last week by the County Legislature's Public Works Committee and is expected to be on the full Legislature's agenda June 7.
