COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Retail Energy Supply Association (RESA), the leading national trade association of retail energy suppliers committed to the advocacy of vibrant and sustainable competitive energy markets, commends the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) for entering an Order today that approves a settlement agreement regarding a rate plan for Duke Energy Ohio (Duke). The multi-faceted agreement was negotiated among a diverse group and was widely supported by industry stakeholders. The PUCO's decision will bring the benefits of the competitive marketplace to an even greater number of consumers. This agreement will lead to a more transparent and workable market structure that will spur the further development of retail and wholesale comp...
The OCC opposed AT&T's request for all of the 11 areas in which the company asked for the ability to raise its rates annually without any future regulatory review. Today, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio granted AT&T's ability to raise basic rates each year in Barnesville, Belfast, Dresden, East Liverpool; Harrisburg, Lewisville, Salineville and St. Clairsville exchanges. The PUCO denied for the second time AT&T's ability to raise basic rates in the Central Ohio communities of Canal Winchester, Groveport and New Albany.
DAYTON -- The Miami Valley's residential and business electricity consumers won't feel any immediate impact from Wednesday's announcement that Dayton Power & Light Co.'s corporate parent is to be sold to a global energy company with operations on five continents. DP&L's electricity rates are locked in through 2012 under a plan approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, and that won't change after a sale of parent DPL Inc. to AES Corp. of Arlington, Va., officials of both companies said.
AKRON, Ohio, Sept. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- A proposal by AEP Ohio would effectively prevent more than 50 communities - comprising more than 300,000 households - from receiving the benefits of governmental aggregation programs that are currently on the November ballots, according to testimony filed on September 27, 2011, by FirstEnergy Solutions (FES). FES is opposing a proposed settlement in AEP Ohio's Electric Security Plan that is currently before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO). The proposed settlement includes various provisions which effectively operate as a cap to shopping and would prevent a majority of AEP Ohio's customers from shopping between 2012 and mid- 2015. The timing and design of these caps would be particularly damaging to governmental aggregation efforts.
