Since Superintendent Mark Roosevelt joined the district more than four years ago, Pittsburgh Public Schools has been promised more than $67 million in foundation grants -- the latest gift being $200,000 from The Heinz Endowments, The Pittsburgh Foundation and unidentified partners.
The school district will give that money to Roosevelt to help him pay taxes due on a $1 million life insurance policy, though his new contract specifies that he is "solely responsible" for paying his income taxes.
