The lowest-achieving elementary school in Santa Fe is receiving an infusion of $1.25 million in federal School Improvement Grants to "turn around" its downward spiral within three years.
Ramirez Thomas Elementary School on Calle Po Ae Pi is one of nine New Mexico public schools receiving a total of $11.3 million in SIG funding, the Public Education Department of New Mexico announced last week. It is the only Santa Fe school.

The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Foundation is hosting its 12th Annual Conference on Education, "On the Road to 2012: Transforming K-12 Math and Science Teaching and Learning in New Mexico.

You may be surprised to learn that the Taos Municipal Schools is not a failing district. Rather, it is a CID -- a Continuously Improving District. Sometimes, correct language means everything.
A few years back, the Public Education Department of New Mexico instituted what it called the Continuous School Improvement Model. It is a model for improving our schools that works and is working right here in Taos. Perhaps we've been too quiet about our progress.
