SACRAMENTO, Calif., Dec. 22 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Los Angeles County Public Defender Michael P. Judge has been appointed to the newly created California Commission on the Fair Administration of Justice.
The new 14-member commission was created by California Senate Resolution 44, adopted in August of 2004, and calls upon the commission members to study all aspects of the administration of justice in California to determine the extent to which that process has failed in the past, resulting in wrongful executions or wrongful conviction of innocent persons.

PASADENA - A judge denied a public defender's request Monday to recuse the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office from the case of Michael Frank Goodwin, the man accused of orchestrating the 1988 killing of an auto racing legend and his wife.
Mickey Thompson, 59, and his wife Trudy, 41, were gunned down in the driveway of their Bradbury home March 16, 1988. Goodwin, 61, could face life in prison without parole if convicted of the double murder charges.

PASADENA - The defense for the man accused of orchestrating the shooting deaths of auto racing legend Mickey Thompson and his wife cannot discuss the probable guilt of other murder suspects during trial, a judge decided this week.
Pasadena Superior Court Judge Teri Schwartz agreed Monday that Los Angeles County Deputy Public Defender Elena Saris made valid points about the possibility that Joey Hunter, a man seen by neighbors soon after the slayings, may have been involved in the crime. However, she said, she thought Saris' extensive arguments connecting many players to the crime through Hunter might confuse the jury.
