Downtown market vendors and businesses will grit their teeth during August as Roanoke Gas Co. begins renewing its underground distribution system on Market Street.
The gas company and Downtown Roanoke Inc. announced plans Tuesday to continue the downtown renewal project in the beginning of August to install a high-pressure gas line and sidewalk meters on Market Street. Affected market vendors and business owners asked the company to consider doing construction work during evening hours to minimize disruption.
