The need to run a business and manage a business in an efficient and profitable way is the same in sports business as in other businesses. The real difference, of course, lays in the nature of the business itself -- the sport -- the effect of the business of the playing of the games and the uncertain outcome of the games. UM house wins 2011 Solar DecathlonA team of students, faculty and staff from the University of Maryland, aided by private companies and professional mentors, bested 19 other collegiate teams from schools in the U.S. and worldwide to win the U.S. Department of Energy's 2011 Solar Decathlon in Washington. The UM's winning entry, called "WaterShed," took first place in the international competition. A team from Purdue University took second place, and New Zealand received third-place honors.
