BALTIMORE, Jan. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Federation of the Blind (NFB), the oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind people, today applauded a federal appellate court ruling affirming the right of a blind California woman to use screen access technology to take professional examinations required for her to receive a license to practice law. My friends at Prevent Blindness Ohio sent me some interesting information this week. For instance, PBO has declared August as Children's Eye Health and Safety Awareness month in order to encourage parents to learn about ways they can help protect their child's vision and to encourage an eye exam to be your child's first exam of the school year. However, their information was much wider than encouraging an eye exam.
Vision screenings and professional eye examinations are recommended as part of your child's regular health care. PBO recommends vision checks in infancy, 6 months, 3 years, 5 years and follow-ups thereafter as needed.
