Next weekend, join local businesses and organizations as they partner with the Churchland Y for its third annual Silent Auction and Wine Tasting. The event will be at the Portsmouth Woman's Club and proceeds will fund the Y's Strong Kids Campaign. Libation will be provided by Total Wine, and Brutti's will be offering heavy hors d'oeuvres. The silent auction will include jewelry, sports memorabilia, vacation packages, art and furniture. More Cowbell will provide the music Nov. 6 from 6:30-10:30 p.m. at the clubhouse, 304 Sycamore Road. People can climb aboard the Privateer Lynx, a replica of an early 1800s wooden sailing ship, before it takes off for the 2009 Transpacific Yacht Race to Honolulu. Lynx is an interpretation of a privateer or naval schooner from the War of 1812, fitted with period ordnance and flags from the 1812 era.
