JERUSALEM -- Israel's prime minister declared on Sunday that his country would retain parts of the West Bank forever -- a statement that infuriated Palestinians and could complicate the year-old peace mission of a visiting U.S. envoy.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu laid claim to disputed territory just hours after meeting with Sen. George Mitchell, the Obama administration's Middle East envoy. Mitchell has been shuttling between Israeli and Palestinian leaders since late last week in hopes of breaking a deadlock over construction in Israeli settlements.

WASHINGTON President Bush on Tuesday put surprisingly strong support behind Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's plan to unilaterally define Israel's West Bank borders if talks with the Palestinians prove fruitless, saying it could be "an important step toward the peace we both support.
At a time when the Palestinian leadership is bitterly divided and partly in control of a group the United States considers terrorists, Bush acknowledged that the preferred course of negotiated borders may be impossible. For his part, Olmert promised to spare no effort to seek a settlement before striking out on his own.

When Chris Badger was growing up on a farm an hour west of Kansas City, he never thought that he would one day be a bank president. Premier Bank Texas is part of a bigger organization based in Missouri. Since its 1995 inception, the bank has spread to 13 locations in Missouri, Illinois and Texas. Badger's Grapevine location, which opened its doors in 2006, was built to be the headquarters of the Texas market. Premier Banks primary business is real estate lending, which has been a shaky business in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since the economic downturn. One way that Premier Bank has continued to stay afloat in the midst of all economic crisis has been through sheer creativity in other segments of its business. In his spare time, Badger enjoys reading, working out and attending the kids' ...

JERUSALEM (AP) - A Palestinian suicide bomber in the West Bank killed four Israelis after nightfall Thursday, just days after the new Hamas Palestinian government took office and Israel elected a premier who pledges to pull out of much of the West Bank.
A huge blast incinerated a car at the entrance to the Jewish settlement of Kedoumim, sending plumes of flame and smoke into the air, the military said.
