There's a moment in one episode of the original "Star Trek" that is, despite its camp, quite stirring. Capt. James T. Kirk, on a planet that somehow developed into a twisted parallel America, rises to recite the preamble of the U.S. Constitution in a way only William Shatner could.

Some 50 veterans from the village of Questa and outlying communities, who fought in World War II, plus Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia and Iraq wars, were honored by family, students and staff at Alta Vista Elementary School on Veterans Day, Thursday (Nov. 11).
I don't think we have ever seen this many veterans together at one event. We counted on the word getting out and I would say it worked out well," said Principal Catherine Collins, who comes from a family of veterans and can still recite the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution that she learned in school.
