  • The AICPA's Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) had one of its most successful years in 2005. As the AICPA's community for firms, PCPS launched a brand new online Firm Practice Center at www.aicpa.org/pcps, rolled out several major initiatives around succession planning, financial literacy and staffing, appointed a number of talented new practitioners to the Executive Committee, and changed its name back to Private Companies Practice section. Besides offering numerous products and services, PCPS continued to engage in several advocacy activities for all CPA firms this past year, including: The Private Company Financial Reporting Task Force, a tax update, and the Technical Issues Committee.

  • The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is in the process of revising its Ballistic Resistance of Personal Body Armor (2008) Standard and corresponding certification program requirements. This work will be performed by a Special Technical Committee (STC), comprised of practitioners from the field, researchers, testing experts, certification experts, and representatives from stakeholder organizations.
