  • Hailing from Sacramento, [Mike Sayers] spends most of the year traveling to professional races across the U.S., and occasionally beyond. If he were to be compared to a pro baseball player, it would best be CaI Ripken, based on Sayers's tenacity and work ethic. When asked which teammate has inspired him the most, he selflessly listed three. He's frequentIy described as the "hard man" and more recently, "elder statesman" of the pro cycling ranks in the U.S. He embraces this role of a tough worker, shielding and pacing his team's star sprinters or climbers, and laying down the law in the peloton when things are out of order. When he gets the chance, he goes for the win on his own. CdSR: Mike, you've just competed in one of the biggest races of the year, Philadelphia's 156mile Commerce Bank...
