  • WASHINGTON, April 19 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Richard A. Medve, a retired U.S. Postal Inspector, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge James A. Moody at the federal court in Little Rock, Ark., to a one-count information charging him with possession of an unregistered firearm, Assistant Attorney General Alice S. Fisher announced today. Medve, 52, of Austin, Ark., had been a federally licensed firearms dealer since the 1980s. He came under investigation by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) during an undercover operation. ATF agents then executed a search warrant at his home and found numerous unregistered firearms, including several silencers.

  • A proposed bill in the District that would decriminalize some gun and ammunition charges for nonresidents will send the wrong message about gun laws in the District, the city's office of the attorney general said at a hearing Monday. The bill under consideration would allow some legal gun owners who don't live in the District and are caught traveling with their guns through the city to pay a fine and be released from custody rather than go to court on charges of possession of an unregistered firearm or unlawful possession of ammunition.

According to a grand jury indictment, Torrado, 39, a resident of Las Vegas has been charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm, one count of possession of an unregistered firearm, and one count of the possession of body armor by a violent felon.   • WACO, Texas - A federal grand jury indicted an AWOL soldier Tuesday on three charges in connection with a plot to bomb Fort Hood soldiers in Texas. Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo, 21, was indicted in Waco on charges of possession of an unregistered destructive device, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition by a fugitive from justice, according to federal prosecutors. He faces up to 10 years in prison on each charge if convicted.
