Next month, the Port of Vancouver will begin fueling its trucks and heavy equipment with diesel that is 20 percent soybean oil.

The salary and car allowance of the Port of Vancouvers top executive will undergo a review today by the ports elected three- member Board of Commissioners.
Executive Director Larry Paulson earns $165,600 per year and receives $500 per month for expenses related to his use of a car for port business. Commissioners are expected to meet in executive session (closed to the public) at 8 a.m. at the ports administrative office, 3103 Lower River Road in Vancouver, to conduct an annual review of Paulsons performance.

The Port of Vancouver USA has been awarded $15 million from the federal government to help provide high-speed rail service.
S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced today the port would receive the money to be put toward its $150 million West Vancouver Freight Access project. The money is part of a much larger $2.02 billion grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation for 22 high-speed passenger rail projects in 15 states around the country.
