LONDON (Reuters) - Guinea-Bissau is looking to privatize a number of industries including ports and airports and is seeking foreign direct investment in sectors such as tourism and mining, the leader of the country's national assembly said on Wednesday [Nov. 9]. We are very relaxed about full privatization of the airports and ports, we would want to keep a larger stake in strategic areas such as the electricity network, telecoms," Raimundo Pereira, president of the National Popular Assembly, told Reuters in an interview.
Venezuelan opponents of President Hugo Chavez cheered Sunday's election results, in which a newly unified opposition gained a significant bloc of seats in the country's National Assembly and apparently a majority of the popular vote.
