There are a few LDS singers who are going to Hollywood this season on American Idol. We all remember Carmen Rasmusen and Jon Peter Lewis from past seasons (among a few other almost-finalists). Both Carmen and Jon are gigging regularly and have recently released new albums. (Ive seen Carmen showcase in Nashville and perform locally, and I believe shes got the goods for The Big Time).
For the new season, Southern Californian Brooke White got the thumbs up from all three judges after her Ive-never-seen-an-R-rated movie audition in Pennsylvania (the song was Like A Star). Watch the clip here.

With impressive performances, LDS singers Brooke White and David Archuleta moved on to the Top 24 on television's "American Idol." Both got positive comments from Paula, Randy and Simon. David has really caught fire, with nearly 300,000 views of this weeks performance on YouTube.
Two other reported LDS singers (thanks for the e-mails and posts) did not make the cut: Nashville-based Cardin Mckinney and Shaun Barrowes of Spanish Fork, Ut. One online AI watcher suggests that one possible reason why Cardin got cut was that three Mormons were just too many for the show.

Dear Click and Clack: I remember listening to your radio show, "Car Talk," with my parents when I was a little kid, and hearing my mom say about a billion times that one of you had the same kind of car she had. That car was a Colt Vista, and now I drive one. And that is the reason I am writing to you. Sookie is my 1987 Plymouth Colt Vista station wagon, and her brake warning light is always on.
The woman I bought the car from said she had someone check it out, and (at that point, anyway) there was nothing wrong. This is my first car, and I don't know if it is a big deal. I have been ignoring it since I bought the car a few months ago, but because I am moving from California to Colorado in the car soon, I thought it is time to figure it out. What should I do? Thanks! -- Emma.

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - "Home Alone" star Macaulay Culkin denounced the molestation allegations against Michael Jackson as "absolutely ridiculous" on Wednesday and testified that, contrary to prosecution claims, he was never victimized during his boyhood visits to the pop star's ranch.
Culkin, 24, confidently rejected suggestions that he might have been molested during his sleep without knowing about it and dismissed a prosecution display of sex magazines seized from Jackson's home, saying he used to keep Playboys under his own bed.

Pittsburgh-based drummer-to-the-stars Poogie Bell has laid down the backbeat for everyone from R&B legend Luther Vandross and funk master Maceo Parker to hip-hop godfather Afrika Bambaataa and pop idol Clay Aiken.
I've done a little bit of everything, from jazz to country to world music," Bell says. "I even worked with Shania Twain for a hot minute. I did a TV special that she was on.
