I visited Linyi, China, a couple of times, both before and after Li Qun became mayor. Before the 1990s, Linyi was filled with poverty, dust, unemployment and pollution; today, Linyi has been transformed into a clean, well- developed, beautiful and vibrant city. Li has created thousands of jobs for this city by building an infrastructure for transportation, commerce and education. He cleaned up one of the most polluted rivers in China and made Linyi a green city.
