American evangelicals have become dominant players within the United States government. One particularly important domain of elite activity has been the U.S. military. Through important institutions like the Pentagon and the U.S. Air Force Academy, a cohort of civilian and military leaders have brought their faith to bear in their professional responsibilities and forms of public self-presentation. Mark McClain, Salem It's obvious that this brouhaha is about Ken Cuccinelli's denial that global warming is an issue we should be concerned about. It would be ludicrous to think that he just happened to pick this one professor to investigate for malfeasance. Of all the recipients of research grants bestowed on academics around Virginia, Cuccinelli picked this one professor who is noted for his work on climate science. Professor Mann's principal offense is helping develop the "hockey stick" climate projection that Al Gore used to alarm some radical environmentalists (and a few million other Americans).
