INDIANAPOLIS - Growing up in Point Pleasant, former Big Blacks guard Donnie Jones used to dream big.
His playing dreams took him to Pikeville College in Kentucky, where he played for current University of Charleston Coach Greg White.

David Meadors, 18, had garnered interest and bowling scholarship offers from several schools, including Pikeville College, but the Lakota West senior lost interest once he visited Wright State University.
I took a bunch of college trips and the thing I realized when I got to Wright State was that there was a different level of passion and knowledge there," Meadors said. "I like the area and I like the campus, but once I talked to the coaches, it was a done deal.

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. -- The last survivor of twelve children, Esther was born to James and Nancy (Wright) Johnson in Pike County, Ky. She graduated from Pikeville High School and attended Pikeville College. She moved to Wooster, in 1934 as the young bride of Alvin E. Rhamy, where she lived and raised her family. Alvin passed away in 1944 at age 36, leaving her a young widow with two small children, Nancy and Alvin "Bud" to care for. She remarried in 1951 to Walter W. Simmons and they became parents of a daughter, Anne Elizabeth "Beth." Walter died 14 years later in 1965.

As far as the coal business goes on the railroad, I've had some experience from mine to market.
Other than on-the-job training, my formal education was actually in secondary education, political science and history. I graduated from a small college in eastern Kentucky called Pikeville College in 1975. In December (of that year), I actually got a job in a coal mine for something to do, a job until I could see if I could get a job teaching.

Charles Ryan Associates has hired software engineers Michael Esposito and Stacey Abshire for its Rev Interactive division. Esposito is a computer science graduate of West Virginia University Institute of Technology, and Abshire has a computer science degree from Pikeville College in Kentucky.
