One memorable birthday weekend I ate lobster thermidor on Friday at Antoine's restaurant in New Orleans, lobster at Chez Philippe at The Peabody on Saturday and broiled lobster on Sunday at Red Lobster on Summer (that was the only place open that served lobster and I wanted to keep the theme going).
Obviously, I love lobster. I miss Pappy's Lobster Shack and Anderton's. So, I was intrigued when Erica Vichathep, server manager at Rain Premier Sushi Bar & Bistro, told me about their Lobster Mac and Cheese last month at a fund-raiser.

Scholars interested in the poetry of Charles, duc d'Orléans (1394-1465), have long known of the manuscript, and it has also been of interest to musicologists studying the secular French chanson of the fifteenth century, since in 1929 Norbert Hardy Wallis published an edition of a selection of its sixty song texts.1 Very little else, however, is actually known about the manuscript, since no study of it has ever appeared in print, and the only inventory of its contents appears in the British Library catalog of its holdings of the Lansdowne collection.2 That inventory is really only a listing of the longest items occurring in the manuscript, however, and in many cases simply reiterates the rubric given for an item, which is not always enlightening.

The Films of Jean-Daniel Pollet October 31 through November 5 Anthology Film Archives Anthology rediscovers the films of nouvelle vague contemporary Jean-Daniel Pollet BY PHILIPPE GARNIER Although he is sometimes associated with the nouvelle vague (he was one of the six filmmakers Barbet Schroeder chose to produce for his 1965 omnibus film Paris Vu Par . . .), Jean-Daniel Pollet was both older and more independent from main-stream cinema than Chabrol, Truffaut, Godard, et al. In a totally unexpected way, Méditerranée mixes barbed wire and blades of grass, Egyptian gods and Arab weddings, bullfights and Greek ruins, crickets and the buzz of flies with a properly halting score by Antoine Duhamel (Pierrot le Fou).

The five Oscar-nominated live-action shorts have a lot in common: Three of them are comedies, four of them are in a language other than English, and all of them are, as the category rules requires, 40 minutes or under in length.
The longest, at 40 minutes, is the Danish film "At Night," a delicately crafted, melancholy, dark-night-of-the-soul look at the lives of three young women spending the holidays in the cancer ward - - or, as one of them puts it, "death row.
