The Colorado Springs petroleum supply terminal operated by NuStar Energy LP has won the highest safety recognition awarded by the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration, becoming just the fourth local employer to receive such recognition since 1982.
NuStar celebrated the recognition - a voluntary program that certifies that an employers safety program goes well beyond OSHA requirements - Tuesday at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort with company officials, its four Colorado Springs employees and others. The San Antonio-based company, which operates petroleum pipelines and terminals in 43 states, hopes to win such recognition for its entire operation, an effort begun four years ago, said Danny McCrory, NuStar's operations manager in the Colorado Springs area.
