• St. John's Catholic Church Conducts Its Final Mass

ANDREW - St. John's Catholic Church in Andrew conducted its final Mass at the church on July 9. The Archdiocese of Dubuque cited a decrease in Mass attendance, a diminishing number of clergy and decreased financial resources as reasons for closure. St. John's and St. Peter's Church in Sabula learned in March that their churches would be closing. St. John's will merge with Sacred Heart in Maquoketa, and St. Peter's will merge with St. Joseph's in Preston.
