SUFFOLK - Don Wayne Newsome Sr., 56, of the 500 block of Factory Street, died Nov. 11, 2007, in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Southampton County, he was a shipping loader for Gwaltney of Portsmouth. Don was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church, Suffolk, where he was a former deacon, former Sunday school superintendent and a member of the Couples Ministry and Men's Fellowship Ministry. He attended Suffolk public schools and graduated from Lincoln High School in Jersey City, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Kee "Jenny" Newsome; two daughters, Nina Alexander (Garloin) and Sherita Turner (Marcus), both of Portsmouth; stepdaughter, Beatrix Mitchell of Suffolk; son, Don W.
