NEW PLYMOUTH croquet player Peter Batchelor has spent the past few weeks braving the winter chills in an effort to get up to speed for the world championships.
Batchelor is part of a 10-man New Zealand team that has been selected for the biennial championships in Cheltenham, England, next month.

As the evening began, two of the top students from the acting, directing and playwrighting program, [Terrence Purnell] and [Margaret McDuffy], held a red ribbon outside the theater, which was cut by the theater company's founders. THE Taranaki trio of Peter Batchelor, Peter Filbee and Len Hotter will be among a strong field of 65 players from four countries when the 2004 New Zealand open croquet championships start in Wanganui in a week.
The winner of national golf croquet singles and doubles titles last year, Batchelor is in a singles section at this year's event.
