Riley Metz provided the offense for the Redskins (10-2), the No. 4 team in the Gazette's Class AAA state ratings, smacking a double and triple and driving in a run. Tyler Payne also went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Bunnell pitcher Taylor Lasko's fastball was working to perfection on Wednesday. Lasko threw the first perfect game in school history, striking out 12 to lead the Bunnell baseball team to a 6-0 South-West Conference win over New Milford in Stratford. Lasko struck out six of the last seven batters in the game.

OAKLAND, Calif. - Dallas Braden pitched the 19th perfect game in major league history, a dazzling performance for the Athletics in a 4-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. Braden threw his arms in the air after Gabe Kapler grounded out to shortstop for the final out. It was the majors' first perfect game since Mark Buehrle did it for the White Sox against the Rays on July 23, and the second no-hitter this season after Colorado's Ubaldo Jimenez pulled it off in Atlanta on April 17.

CHARLOTTESVILLE - Will Roberts (Jr., Richmond, Va.) recorded the eighth nine-inning perfect game in NCAA Division I baseball (since 1957) to lead the top-ranked Virginia baseball team to a 2-0 victory over George Washington Wednesday at Davenport Field. Roberts recorded 27 straight outs and needed just 98 pitches to earn the second perfect game in ACC history. It is the 19th perfect game of any length in NCAA Division I history, the first for any pitcher in Division I since 2002 and the first in the Virginia annals. Lost in the shuffle - it also was the 2,000th victory in UVa program history.

Hurricane senior left-hander Sam Kmiec pitched a perfect game Thursday to lead Hurricane to an 8-0 win at Capital in high school baseball. Kmiec, who will pitch at Wake Forest next season, struck out 13 in improving to 4-0 on the season. His earned run average remains at 0.00.
