Thanks to an effort initiated by Jenny Wilkes, a parent and PTA member, Jessup Elementary School was selected as the recipient of a Lowe's Heroes Project grant. Lowe's donated $9,600 worth of supplies and materials which were used to make much needed improvements to Jessup's playground area and landscaping in front of the school. The grant also came with people power: more than 60 employees from Lowe's stores in Severn, Glen Burnie, Laurel, Columbia, Catonsville, White Marsh, Bel Air, Towson and Timonium joined school and community volunteers to labor for 13 hours through Tuesday's oppressive heat to get the job done.
