Wall Street bill goes to Senate The Senate Banking Committee has approved Democratic legislation overhauling Wall Street regulations on a party-line vote. The bill now goes to the full Senate, where its prospects remain in doubt.
While we are restoring the oversight and fiscal regulations for Wall Street that McCain and his party have stripped bare over time, maybe we ought to also insist on the revamping of our tax codes to eliminate corporate loopholes. Then, let's start collecting those unpaid corporate taxes so, in two years, we could repay the $700 billion spent for the Wall Street bailout or maybe pay for part of the Iraq war. While we are reforming, let's also tackle campaign finance, lobby reform and maybe throw in congressional term limits, too.
