Boone County Fire Protection District firefighters and University Hospital emergency workers tend to passengers of a Buick Regal involved in a collision this morning on Highway 40 in the Midway area west of Columbia. Six people were taken to University Hospital with varying degrees of injuries after the Buick and a Jaguar collided head-on around 9:50 a.m. near Ivy Lane. The Jaguar, which had one occupant, caught fire after the collision. FORT WORTH, Texas - Evelyn Frayre, the 8-month-old girl rescued by her aunt after being found hanging in a closet Tuesday morning, was released from the hospital yesterday afternoon and placed in a foster home in Parker County. Family District Court Judge Jerome Hennigan ruled that Evelyn would be placed in the custody of Child Protective Services. A custody hearing is scheduled for June 12.
The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office will determine if charges are warranted against a teenage driver who was distracted by his flip-flops when he struck and killed a bicyclist in Indiana Township. County police Lt. William Palmer said the 17-year-old motorist was on his way to classes at Fox Chapel Area High School on May 27 when he looked away, drove off the pavement and hit Donald Parker Jr., 52, of Hampton, who was bicycling to work in RIDC Park in O'Hara. Parker was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital and died.
