On Sept. 23, Rebuilding Together (RT) will be joined by Gov. Kathleen Blanco, Sens. Mary Landrieu and David Vitter, local law enforcement agencies and other dignitaries for Calcasieu Parish's First Annual Law Enforcement Rebuild Challenge. The event, which will include the rebuilding of seven homes in Calcasieu Parish, marks the one year anniversary of rebuilding in the aftermath of Hurricane Rita and is part of RT's Rebuild 1000 Campaign, a commitment to rehabilitate 1000 homes on the Gulf Coast. To date, Rebuild 1000 has completed 109 projects.

In accordance with Section 122(h) of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, as amended (``CERCLA''), 42 U.S.C. 9622(i), notice is hereby given of a proposed administrative settlement concerning the City Storage Superfund Site, located in Sulphur, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The settlement requires the three (3) settling parties to pay a total of $145,000 as payment of response costs to the Hazardous Substances Superfund plus $2,750.23 in calculated interest. The settlement includes a covenant not to sue pursuant to Section 107 of CERCLA, 42, U.S.C. 9607. The Commander, Eighth Coast Guard District, has issued a temporary deviation from the regulation governing the operation of the Union Pacific Railroad swing bridge across the Calcasieu River, mile 36.4, at Westlake, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. The deviation is necessary to upgrade the electrical and mechanical systems of the bridge. This deviation allows the bridge to remain closed-to-navigation on three different dates in November.
