Two popular biblical sayings, "Train up a child in the way be should go and when he is older, he shall not depart from those ways" and "Honor thy mother and father" found in Proverbs 22:6 and Exodps 20:12 respectively, focus on the importance of child rearing and parent-child relationships. The faith-based community has always encouraged parents to instill morals and values in their children so that they will hold to those teachings, as they become adults. In addition, children are warned to show their parents honor and respect. These scriptures have long served as important principles for parents and children in the church.

One of the primary goals of correctional education is to reduce recidivism by reintegrating inmates into society and family in a productive and positive manner and, in the case of parent education, become good and effective parents to their children. Research suggests that prison parent education programs provide inmates with measurable knowledge and affirmative parenting skills which can result in positive behavior changes, including a decrease in the recidivism rate. Participants were comprised of 219 mothers who agreed to take part in parent education classes while incarcerated in seve...

"The Probation Office has violated defendants' 5th Amendment right to equal protection by refusing to grant defendants permission to associate with each other, while maintaining a policy of granting such permission to similarly situated individuals in other kinds of family relationships (i.e., siblings, parent and child, and spouses)," he said.

One of the highlights of the 2002 Philly Fringe Festival was the workshop performance of Rainpan 43's Machines, Machines, Machines, Machines, Machines, Machines, Machines. Reimagined by creators/performers Gabriel Quinn Bauriedel, Geoff Sobelle of Pig Iron fame and Rainpan co-founder Trey Lyford, the new production focuses on three paranoid brothers who bury themselves in a tiny bunker with a bunch of ingenious but inelegantly crafted machines. A madcap piece of physical theater, Machines is helmed by pioneering director Aleksandra Wolksa, who was responsible for Rainpan's signature production All Wear Bowlers.

There is a fine line between a child's respect and fear of his parent. The effects of these relationships and emotions, and the behaviors associated with them, last a lifetime and influence how a child interacts outside of the home, and may even determine what kind of parent your child will eventually be.
According to Exchange Club Family Services coordinator Hallie Cohen, many of us naturally utilize the same discipline tactics our parents used to correct us when we were young.
