The CEO of Panasonic Corporation of North America said Wednesday that he understands the effect on Secaucus of his company's controversial decision to move its U.S. headquarters from the town to a 250,000-square-foot office in Newark, assisted by a $102.4 million state tax break.

SECAUCUS, N.J., June 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic Corporation of North America, a leader in the development of 3D and high definition television, will launch an advertising campaign to highlight Panasonic's growing leadership in green business innovation looking toward 2018, the 100th anniversary of the founding of its parent company, Panasonic Corporation.
The campaign is part of a larger global communications effort which will launch in the United States on June 10, and features ads in major news and business magazines, including Newsweek and Bloomberg BusinessWeek, as well as television commercials on the National Geographic Channel and Bloomberg TV. The controversy over New Jersey's award of a tax incentive worth $102.4 million to help Panasonic Corporation of North America move from Secaucus to Newark appeared far from dead Wednesday after the state's top development authority reapproved the grant.
In a short meeting in Trenton, the board of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority voted unanimously, for a second time, to make the award, brushing aside opposition from Panasonic's current landlord, Hartz Mountain Industries of Secaucus.
