Awards Season 2010 started off with a guzzle on Tuesday night in Palm Springs, as Hollywood's heavy hitters rolled into the desert and started the drinkin' and carousin' early. Cocktails at 4:30 p.m., then the Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala Awards at 6, which meant by the time "Breakthrough Performance Actor" Jeremy Renner of "The Hurt Locker" fame hit the stage about 6:30, the party was rollin' hard.

WHITTIER - Playground apparatus at Palm and Parnell parks has been fenced off until the city can replace the rubber padding, which is wearing out, that serves as a ground cover.
In addition, swings at Central, Laurel, Michigan and Palm parks also were removed. This all occurred about a month ago.

Holy Week in the Diocese of Harrisburg will begin Sunday with the Palm Sunday Youth Mass in Harrisburg.
A pre-liturgy will begin at 2:15 p.m. on the Capitol steps. At 3 p.m., the Mass will begin with a blessing of palms by Bishop Joseph P. McFadden and the first Gospel reading. At 3:15 p.m., everyone will process with palms and banners to St. Patrick Cathedral, 212 State St. to conclude the Mass. There will be another procession at 5 p.m. when the group moves to Strawberry Square, 11 N. Third St. for a meal and a concert by J Bill Lage.
