GRAND LAKE STREAM The 17th annual Grand Lake Stream Folk Art Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 30 and 31. There will be more than 50 folk artists and craftsmen from the northeastern U.S. and Canada. Collectible folk art and functional handcrafts will be presented. Gibson Island Country School students, staff, family and friends recently took part in a Celebration of the Arts. Visitors were invited to the school's gymnasium, which was converted into a colorful gallery of student artwork. There were demonstrations in painting, furniture making, quilting, and jewelry making. Students brought the following masterpieces to life: Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa," Henri Matisse's "Gypsies" and Norman Rockwell's "Schoolgirl Crush."
