WASHINGTON, April 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A New York City federal grand jury returned an indictment against four individuals and three corporations for participating in mail and wire fraud conspiracies related to contracts for work performed at New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH), the Department of Justice announced. The four-count indictment returned today in U.S. District Court in New York City, charges Michael Yaron and two companies owned by him, Cambridge Environmental & Construction Corp., which does business as National Environmental Associates (Cambridge/NEA), an asbestos abatement company, and Oxford Construction & Development Corp., a construction company, with engaging in wire and mail fraud conspiracies to defraud the NYPH. OXFORD -- The Maine Department of Environmental Protection is expected to fine the Oxford County Agricultural Society, Black Bear Entertainment LLC, several of its individual principals and a West Gardiner Construction company more than $75,000 for alleged environmental violations at the fairgrounds last spring. DEP spokeswoman Samantha DePoy-Warren said Monday afternoon that a draft consent agreement has been written for "significant" environmental violations. It names the Oxford County Agricultural Society, Black Bear Entertainment LLC, Rupert and Suzanne Grover, Steven Barber of Black Bear Realty Co. LLC, and McGee Construction LLC as parties. It proposes a total fine of $69,925 for the named violators, plus an additional $4,843 for the society.
Appeal remanded with direction. Deen, P. J., and Quillian, J., concur.
The developer of Maine's first resort casino is plowing ahead with construction, undeterred by the prospect of competing gambling proposals that could be approved by voters in November. A spokesman for Black Bear Entertainment LLC, the company that earned voter approval last fall to build a casino in Oxford, said its investors are focused on their project, not upcoming votes on other casino proposals around the state.
