The program provides clean-up of the roadways in the towns while reducing the cost of housing the inmates who participate in the program. The time the inmates spend in the Oxford County Jail is reduced as they will receive one day off their sentence for every two days worked.

The work is being done in the unusual coincidence of the six- month anniversary of the hurricane and celebration of Mardi Gras. But these workers are celebrating the spirit of helping others who are in need.

  • A second dog shelter operating under the name One More Chance Adoption and managed by New Carlisle resident Jeff Burgess was raided Thursday, this time by Clark County authorities. The Clark County Board of Health declared the shelter a public health nuisance, saying it housed at least 360 dogs and was infested with rats. Operators were given 28 days to clean it up.

  • San Timoteo Canyon Road in Redlands was reopened this morning following a three-day clean up operation by city workers. The road was reopened at 9 a.m., said Redlands spokesman Carl Baker.
