An open house was held recently at the Adoption Center of the Mid- South. The center is a cooperative effort led by AGAPE Child & Family Services, along with its other community partners: Harmony Adoptions of Tennessee, Catholic Charities, the Adoption Counseling Center, Jewish Family Services, Life Choices, Bethany Christian Services of West Tennessee, Tennessee Department of Children's Services, Weaver and Craig PC.
The Adoption Center of the Mid-South is committed to the common goal of creating and supporting healthy families through adoption and overcoming barriers to its success.

THE Mission animal shelter in the northeast San Fernando Valley must be kept open - but not as a private adoption center. Property owners of Los Angeles are paying more than $19 million in bonded indebtedness and deserve a city animal-care facility for their underserved area.
The wishes of the people are being ignored in proposing that all city services be abandoned and a nonprofit organization, Best Friends Animal Society of Utah, utilize a portion of the building to promote adoption of the most desirable impounds from other city shelters. That would reduce the selection options for many potential adopters and could decrease their willingness to visit other local shelters when seeking a family pet.

The majority of adolescents receiving substance abuse treatment also use tobacco, yet there are few data regarding the adoption of tobacco use assessment and smoking cessation services by adolescent treatment programs. Using data from a national sample of adolescent-only treatment programs (n = 154), this research measures the adoption of aspects of assessment and treatment from the Public Health Service's (2000) guideline, Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence.
